Embracing the Energy of the Fire Horse
March 2026
I don’t follow the Chinese zodiac cycle particularly closely, and I realize we’re already a month into the Lunar New Year. But something about this year’s transition to the Year of the Fire Horse keeps capturing my attention.
Maybe it’s because everything I’ve read about the energy of the Fire Horse feels strikingly aligned with the very things coaching is designed to support:
Courage
Forward action
Confidence and trusting yourself
Embracing the bold and the new
Reinvention
In many traditions, the Fire Horse symbolizes intensity, independence, passion, and movement. It’s an energy that doesn’t like standing still. It trusts that inner pull toward something different. It invites reflection, encourages us to follow our instincts, and calls us to step into the next chapter of life with intention and conviction.
In a lot of ways, this is the exact work I get to do with coaching clients every day. Because when people reach out to work with a coach, it’s rarely because everything is comfortable and settled. More often, it’s because something inside them is stirring. A realization that the current path may no longer be the right one. A sense that there is more potential wanting to be expressed. A desire to make a change, even if the direction isn’t fully clear yet.
That moment of internal unrest is often a signal, and coaching is one way to explore what’s beneath that. A good coach doesn’t tell you which direction to run. Instead, they help you hear your own inner compass more clearly. They ask the questions that surface what’s most important to you and help you quiet the noise long enough to notice what has been whispering beneath the surface. And then, most importantly, they help you take the first step forward.
As I think about the symbolism of this year, I find myself reflecting on a few questions, ones you might consider for yourself as well:
Where in your life are you feeling the pull for something new?
What bold idea or possibility have you been quietly carrying but not yet acting on?
If this were a year for courage and forward movement, what might you do differently?
For some people, that bold step might mean exploring a career shift that has been lingering in the background for years. For others, it might mean speaking up more confidently, stepping into leadership, or finally trusting their own voice. And for others still, it might mean breaking old patterns and rewriting their own rules rather than following the status quo.
Whatever form it takes, transformation gains momentum the moment you decide you’re ready to move. That’s why this moment feels like an exciting time to be a coach. The themes of this year sit at the heart of the work I love doing with clients – helping people reconnect with what matters most to them and supporting them as they take meaningful steps toward it.
So, if you’ve been sensing that something in your life or career is ready to evolve… this is the year to listen to that signal. The Fire Horse doesn’t wait for perfect clarity. Move forward anyway, and trust that the answers will follow.
If you’re feeling that pull and want a thought partner as you explore what’s next, I’m here for it. These are exactly the kinds of conversations that coaching is meant to hold. Because what if this really is your year?
